Are you addicted to learning?

LAST CALL! The Managing Client Accounts workshop starts on Wednesday, February 12 so register now if you don’t want to miss out!

Curiosity and an interest in learning helps to make you a better agency owner and entrepreneur.

But it also can be a bit of an obstacle.

It is easy to become addicted to learning — especially today with so many sources of information available at our fingertips.

Reading, listening, and watching can also be a great way to procrastinate from work tasks that we might prefer to put off.

I’ll explore this idea a bit more later in this week’s newsletter, but first let’s look at the resources that Jen has rounded up for you this week (and perhaps feed your own addiction or aid some procrastination).

Are you addicted to learning?

Don’t get me wrong, I want you to be curious and try to keep learning.

It’s not just a selfish desire since I create what I hope is valuable content, but because it really does make you a better business owner and expert advisor.

But like everything else, it is important to consume professional development in moderation.

I speak from experience here since my idea of fun in my “free” time is to read, watch, and listen to content about my professional interests.

How do you know if you are addicted to learning?

Just ask yourself if it is getting in the way of accomplishing the important tasks on your to do list.

If you feel like you don’t have enough time in the day to get everything done that you need to do — and you’re still finding plenty of time to engage in professional development — you might need to strike a new balance.

Consider giving yourself a time budget for your education consumption — a bit of an information diet, if you will.

Another sign that you might be addicted to learning is that you suffer from analysis paralysis.

If you feel the need to keep researching and researching before making decisions, you might need to give yourself firmer decision deadlines and accept that at some point you need to act based on the knowledge you already have.

By all means keep learning (and keep reading my newsletters!) but make sure that it isn’t getting in the way of making progress in your business.

Now, let me get back to watching some YouTube videos.
